Learn to Know Your Nutrition with
Upcoming Grocery Store Tour

(August 7, 2009)  PrimaryPlus, Bayer and Foodland are happy to welcome a “Shop & Learn” experience on Friday, August 14 anytime between 10 AM and 2 PM.  The event is set to create awareness on healthy eating, how to read food labels, living with diabetes and more.  PrimaryPlus’ Michelle Tooley, who currently serves as their Certified Diabetes Educator and soon will be serving as a nurse practitioner within the facility will be leading the tours.

Although the event places a focus on diabetes education, it is not limited to those that have diabetes—everyone is welcome.  The tour will include facts and ideas that will fit that of many conditions that are affected by food such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc. 

“Eating healthy does not apply to just those who just have diabetes or have a chronic condition...it applies to everyone.  We all benefit from good nutrition, good control—it can even help in preventing diseases,” states Michelle Tooley, RN, MSN, CDE.

Bayer will be on hand to present health education material, free blood sugar monitors (while supplies last) and other goodies for those that participate.  The tour will help make people aware of the close relationship between food and blood sugar levels.
