PrimaryPlus Donates to Relay for Life & the American Cancer Society

(July 23, 2009)  PrimaryPlus is built on a strong mission to serve its patients, its community and sister organizations that have the ultimate goal of improving the lives of others such as the American Cancer Society.  Over the last several months, employees of the non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center teamed up to raise money for Relay for Life, an event organized and hosted by the American Cancer Society.  The team rallied together to raise $1,100.55 for Lewis County.

Lewis County has been a host to several successful Relay for Life events in the past; however, interest over the past several years has been low.  Relay for Life raises money for cancer research, support programs and provides the community an opportunity to “celebrate, remember and fight back,” as their tagline states.  Relay not only honors those who have had cancer, but those who have survived the disease, as well as, caregivers of cancer patients.

For the 2009 Relay for Life, PrimaryPlus had three teams including Lewis, Fleming and Mason Counties.  Collectively the healthcare organization raised $4037.25 through fundraisers such as raffles, jean days, massage days, donations, t-shirt sales and more. 

“For years we have been a proud sponsor of Relay for Life events in the area; however this year we decided to join forces as a team to raise even more money for the cause.  Being in healthcare we see how cancer affects the lives of so many families—we want to be part of the movement to eradicate this horrible disease,” states Tracy McGuire, team captain and Marketing Director for PrimaryPlus.
